Table Rock Lake is located in southwestern Missouri. It formed back in the 1950s when the White River was dammed. It’s a beautiful 52,300-acre lake with 800 miles of shoreline.
With all the activities the lake and the surrounding area have to offer, no wonder it’s been named a top family-friendly lake destination in the US a number of times.
Are you planning a day or a weekend at Table Rock Lake State Park? Stick around for three tips to make the most of your time at this premier Ozark destination.
1. Table Rock Lake State Park Camping
Do you enjoy sleeping in the great outdoors? At Table Rock Lake, you can set up right on the waterfront at one of the many campgrounds with public lake access.
There are sixteen campgrounds around the lake. Both Table Rock State Park, open March 1st through November 30th, and the Old Highway 86 Campground, open April 1st through October 30th, offer basic electric and/or sewer, electric, and water campsites depending on your needs.
To keep pests that are not native to the Ozarks out of the forests, you must use local firewood.
Make your reservations ahead of time to reserve a spot especially during holidays and popular vacation times. Camping fees apply.
2. Table Rock Lake State Park Boat Rentals
Boating is one of the most popular activities on the lake. There are several Table Rock Lake marinas from which you can rent a boat for fishing, water skiing, or just plain cruising around the lake.
If you want a tour of the whole lake, a full-day rental is recommended. You can rent anything from a simple rowboat to a speed boat.
Stop for lunch at one of the floating restaurants at Indian Point or Kimberling City. Make a pit stop at a quiet cove for a swim.
If you forget any of your lake essentials, no worries. You can purchase sunscreen, towels, snacks, and other necessities at any of the marinas.
3. Table Rock Lake State Park Hiking
Experience the beauty of the Ozarks by hitting the trails. From moderate to rugged, you’ll find a trail that’s right for you.
One of the most popular trails for families is the 2.25-mile paved pathway called Table Rock Lakeshore Trail. It begins at the State Park Marina and wraps around the shoreline. Leashed dogs are permitted.
Looking for something more challenging? The White River Valley Trail System features a number of hiking loops of varying lengths and difficulty. Try them all for an 11.75-mile hike.
