The City of Galena and the entire Galena area are on the North side of Table Rock Lake known as the James River Arm that flows into Table Rock Lake from the North. Galena is in between Table Rock Lake and Springfield Missouri.
Galena is the County Seat for Stone County, the County that has the largest part of Table Rock Lake. It is the home to some of the finest lake area fishing and canoeing on the lake.
There is a large real estate area for Galena because of the mailing addresses in relation to the roads that have to twist and bend to get around the lake. With these twists come many beautiful homes/home sites and properties with wonderful views of the lake and the Ozark hills.
Many buyers choose the Galena area because it is less than 15 minutes to shopping, 30 minutes to Branson and about 30 minutes to Springfield, the largest city for our area.
Galena was platted in 1852 along the banks of the James River which is apparent when you visit the town square and see the historic courthouse and buildings around the square. This is also home to the Famous Y-Bridge over the James River that was the way in and out of town. This was way before Table Rock Lake was established in 1958 which caused the development of the areas of Galena.
The Galena area consists mostly of retired folks that have found the beauty of the area and the access to the lake with the James River Arm. Many will purchase a second home here because of the easy access to Springfield and are able to still work their careers and recreate on the lake on weekends and evenings. Some will actually become full time residents after they have retired.
Regardless of why you purchase, Galena is a great area to buy real estate and Lake Time Realty has listed and sold many Galena lakefront properties for sale on Table Rock Lake.
